One unit credit is equivalent to 17 to 18 hours of classroom instructions, including examinations. Thus, a typical subject (class) meets for 3 hours per week for 18 weeks in a semestral term, or at least 54 hours for a full summer term. Assuming a passing grade, 3 units-credit are earned for the subject.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Study Load \u2013 The maximum study load a student can normally carry is 21 units per semester and 9 units in a summer term.<\/li>\n<li>Students are not allowed to carry an overload of subjects. However, in the case of a graduating student or in special cases upon approval of the Dean of Studies, a student may carry an overload of not more than 3 units behind the normal maximum load.<\/li>\n<li>No overload without prior approval of the Dean of Studies will be credited.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6>Grades &amp; Grading System<\/h6>\n<p>Grades are symbol which provide records of a student\u2019s participation in the relevant study experiences; and the quality of a student\u2019s performance in achieving the course goals is evaluated and recorded in the form of grades.<br \/>\nGrading is the sole responsibility of faculty members; however, it must be based on the policies and procedures prescribe by the School Administration.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<h6>The Ten-Point Numeral Grading System<\/h6>\n<p>PSBA adopts the Ten-Point Numeral Grading System, with grade points and corresponding narrative descriptions, as follows:<\/p>\n<table class=\"table table-striped table-sm table-compact\">\n<thead>\n<tr>\n<th scope=\"col\">Ten Point Numerical<\/th>\n<th scope=\"col\">Grades<\/th>\n<th scope=\"col\">Description<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<th scope=\"row\">1.00<\/th>\n<td class=\"text-left\">Excellent<\/td>\n<td class=\"text-left\">4.00<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th scope=\"row\">1.25<\/th>\n<td class=\"text-left\">Very Good<\/td>\n<td class=\"text-left\">3.75<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th scope=\"row\">1.5<\/th>\n<td class=\"text-left\">Very Good<\/td>\n<td class=\"text-left\">3.5<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th scope=\"row\">1.75<\/th>\n<td class=\"text-left\">Good<\/td>\n<td class=\"text-left\">3.00<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th scope=\"row\">2.00<\/th>\n<td class=\"text-left\">Good<\/td>\n<td class=\"text-left\">2.5<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th scope=\"row\">2.25<\/th>\n<td class=\"text-left\">Fair<\/td>\n<td class=\"text-left\">2.0<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th scope=\"row\">2.5<\/th>\n<td class=\"text-left\">Fair<\/td>\n<td class=\"text-left\">1.5<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th scope=\"row\">3.0<\/th>\n<td class=\"text-left\">Passing<\/td>\n<td class=\"text-left\">1.0<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th scope=\"row\">4.0<\/th>\n<td class=\"text-left\">Conditioned<\/td>\n<td class=\"text-left\">0.0<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<th scope=\"row\">5.0<\/th>\n<td class=\"text-left\">Failed<\/td>\n<td class=\"text-left\">0.0<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Note: Grade of 4.0 (conditioned) is used only for mid term grading; not for final.<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6>Grade Point Average (GPA) is computed as follows:<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>To get the honor points, multiply the credit for each course (subject) enrolled during a semester\/summer term by the grade point credit for the grade in each course (subject).<\/li>\n<li>To get the total honor points, add all the honor points.<\/li>\n<li>To get the Grade Average, divide the total honor points by the total number of credits earned during the semester\/ summer term. Indices are computed to four (4) decimals places and the third number is rounded off.<\/li>\n<li>The cumulative GPA is computed by averaging all the GPA\u2019s of a student for all the semesters\/summer terms of his enrollment in PSBA.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Course Credits The progress of a student in his study measured in unit-credits earned.
