Training and Services <\/a><\/h4>\n

As part of the central academic mission to raise awareness of spatial technology among graduate and undergraduate students, the GIS-RDH offers the students and the society an educational environment of the latest knowledge and advanced skills in GIS and increase students\u2019 opportunities to find livelihood in an ever demanding market with hard competition. The Center has various types of resources and facilities in order to impart GIS education in the class and the field.<\/p>\n

The Curriculum for the Degree of Master in Business Administration (MBA) Specialization in Disaster Risk Management (DRM) offers the course Geographic Information System Base Mapping Techniques for Disaster Management as a part of the Special Seminar in Disaster Risk Management 1, which is also available in the E-Learning System of PSBA-Manila. The course focuses on the provision of Management Information System (MIS) with a strong focus on GIS that is vital in monitoring and evaluating development control, environmental sustainability, and hazard-impacted areas. Further, the framework is designed towards GIS in terms of modules meant for the application of GIS towards Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) spatial understanding in prevention and preparation. The aim of the course is to provide knowledge to the students on how to properly define the DRR- and CCA-related information in terms of maps or spatial distribution of disaster impact, hazards, flood vulnerability, earthquake impact, and tsunami vulnerability, among others.<\/p>\n

The Center also provides trainings and workshops to employees of local government and private entities that pioneer the use of GIS software such as, but not limited to, ArcGIS in their respective departments.
